House Refurb & Extension Painting & Decoration – Northamptonshire

Introduction

At Keeley Painting & Decorating, we recently completed a substantial decorating project involving refurbishing and extending a property in the picturesque village of East Haddon, Northamptonshire.

Our relationship with the client, a prominent building company based in Northampton, began over a year ago through a series of jobs. They approached us for this project, recognising our competitive pricing and consistent delivery of high-quality workmanship.

The main objective was to transform the outdated property into an attractive, market-ready home. The renovation aimed to present a neutral and appealing space, providing a blank canvas that would attract a wide range of potential buyers.

Design Choices and Materials

For this project, they opted for colours that would maximise the feeling of space and light. We painted the ceilings white throughout and applied Dulux Timeless to the walls. All woodwork was completed in Dulux Pure Brilliant White satin, while the oak doors and staircase received two coats of Osmo clear satin oil. This colour scheme was strategically chosen for its neutrality and ability to make spaces appear larger and more inviting.

We sourced all materials from the Dulux Decorator Centre to ensure high quality and consistency throughout the property.

Preparation and Challenges

Preparation is key in our line of work. For this project, we started with a mist coat using a spray machine prior to the second fix. This allowed us to avoid any potential damage from other ongoing trades. The coordination between different trades can pose a challenge, but through clear planning and communication, we managed to overcome any problems efficiently.

Execution and Timeline

Two of our experienced team members carried out the painting and decorating work over two weeks. This timeframe was planned to ensure that the project was ready in the builder’s original timeframe.
